2024 Wedding Trends We are obsessed with

Wedding trends come and go. What will never go out of style is creating a wedding that is truly unique to your own love story, your style and your unique sensibilities.

Here at Sue Gallo Designs, we have already begun to work with our 2024 couples to plan and design their wedding day flowers + decor, and the year looks pretty exciting and beautiful. While some trends from 2023 are carrying over into 2024, there are new and exciting ones on the horizon. From WOW moments, to fabulous MENU’S to PATTERNED bridesmaids gowns, BOLD colours, THEMED dress codes and UNIQUE guest experiences with LOCAL vendors. 2024 weddings are going to be truly remarkable and memorable.

As a Hamilton based wedding florist, I love to see how our couples are incorporating these up and coming trends into their wedding day. Read on and lets’ dive a little deeper into incorporating them into your own wedding day.

WOW MOMENTS

Here at Sue Gallo Designs, we have always encouraged our couples to create WOW moments. Whether it’s a grand floral display, a unique seating chart vignette, an epic food display or unique entertainment. When it comes to florals, we suggest couples opt for one or more statement moments or elements while keeping more subtle and toned down. Modern couples want that Wow factor and to provide a memorable evening for their guests without being over the top.

BOLD + COLOURFUL COLOUR PALETTES

Sure white and green florals are classical and elegant. But vibrant and colourful florals add personality and a hint of whimsy to any celebration. Colour is impactful and can completely elevate the mood of a space and add personality. Many Sue Gallo Designs couples are stepping out of the box and leaning away from the traditional colour palettes. Bold hues + shades of magenta, earthy and organic wild flower inspired hues, mustard yellows along with warm dusty blues, desert sunset tones of oranges, peaches, tangerines and rusty oranges to peacock blue greens and lilac inspired palettes are the palettes of many of our 2024 mood boards.

HIGHLY CURATED MENU

One constant has always been a strong focus on the evenings menu. Our couples are true foodies and always have a high priority on menu. Whether it’s an all vegan meal, or a selection of favourite family dishes, or dishes inspired by a couples love story, we see couples choosing to create a menu that is both meaningful and delicious.

Custom bar service is also still on trend and getting more popular. Our couples are still loving the signature drinks + cocktails and creating satellite bars for unique guest experience.

PETTITE BOUQUETS

While bouquets are an essential element, our brides are requesting mini or petite bouquets for the wedding party and bride. So think of Kate’s sweet and sentimental lily of the valley bouquet when she wed William or even Megan’s bouquet of Sweet Pea, Astilbe and Forget me Knots when she tied the knot with Harry. Classic, timeless and delicate … this is a trend absolutely adore!

INTIMATE WEDDING PARTY

Don’t get me wrong, we are still seeing a strong trend towards large wedding parties. However, some couples are intentionally choosing ceremonies that are intimate and more focused on them and losing the large wedding parties. With only their besties by their sides or no wedding party at all, couples are focusing on the real reason … LOVE!

PATTERN + MIXED MATCHED BRIDESMAIDS GOWNS

This trend is so on point and so gorgeous! Not only does it create a unique bridal style and adds personality, this stylish fashion forward mixed + mismatched dress trend looks fabulous. Gone are the days of everything in your wedding matching exactly. It’s all about setting a tone, creating personality and a mood. Creating a wedding that is an extension of your own personal tastes! Bonus … your bridesmaids will love you for it!!

MINI CAKES WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF DESSERT

Wedding cakes will always be a party of a wedding day. However, many of our couples are going for a smaller cutting cake and loading up on all the other sweet treats and hand held desserts to indulge on. While not exactly new, this trend has couples looking for new and unique ways for guests to experience their sweet treats. Freshly baked cookies, mini donuts, rolled ice cream, hot churros and refreshing popsicles for summertime weddings.

SMALLER MORE INTIMATE CEREMONIES

Sue Gallo Designs modern couples are wanting their ceremonies to be short, sweet and ever so intimate. We see couples planning ceremonies no longer than 20 minutes and even choosing to wed privately with just immediate family before joining the rest of their guests for cocktail hour.

PHOTO MOMENTS

This trend looks to be strong and I know it will be sticking around for some time to come. Couple’s choosing to plan fun, playful moments with their photographer. Take the champagne tower, a living champagne wall, sparkler send off or even the vintage car exit, all create memorable moments that will be cherished for a life time.

THEMED DRESS CODE

Honestly, one of my favourite and if I could do it all over again, I would totally provide a theme or dress code for my guests. Couples are looking for unique ways to create an experience for their guests and this tops the cake. Whether it’s a colour palette, or 70’s inspired disco attire, with some straightforward direction on attire from the couple, guests can truly add to the aesthetic of the day. I love seeing this come together in photographs!

UNIQUE GUEST BOOKS + STATEMENT MAKING SEATING CHART VIGNETTES

Unique guest books, like audio guest books and telephone booths have become hugely popular this year and going strong for next season as well. A fun alternative for guests to give their well wishes and congratulations … a playful vintage telephone or English Telephone Booth adds bonus points for some adorable decor!

Creating a statement making seating chart vignette is one of my favourite elements to incorporate into a wedding. So, I am thrilled that this trend is taking off like wild fire. Creating a wedding that gives your guests an experience with thoughtful and creative moments, will ensure a day that is memorable and a wedding that guests will be talking about for years to come.

CHOOSING LOCAL + SUSTAINABLE

Our couples are still expressing their wish to work with only local vendors to support their wedding day. Sustainability is also high on the want list for the day. From compositing to virtual invitations to limiting waste as much as possible, being eco friendly is growing trend for 2024.

THE BIGGEST TAKE AWAY

Couples are intentionally planning, creating thoughtful and meaningful moments throughout their wedding day. Taking time to carefully curate a day that is sentimental, meaningful and a true expression of their love story. Incorporating their own unique sensibilities and style to create a wedding day that allows their guests to experience a day filled with great moments, fabulous details, fine food + drink and time spent with those you love.

So, how many of these fabulous trends do you think you will incorporate into your wedding day? Still want to be on trend, yet original? We can definitely help you plan that! We are now booking for 2024 and I am excited to hear what you are planning for your wedding day. Give us a ring and let’s get planning!
