Gabriela & Jordan’s Summer wedding at Whistle Bear Golf + Country Club
Some of the best weddings we design start with a couple saying something surprisingly simple: We know how we want it to feel. We trust you to get us there.
That was Gabriela and Jordan. Their summer wedding at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge, Ontario was beautiful, but what I remember most isn’t one particular flower or table. IT WAS THE TRUST!
Gabriela had opinions. She had ideas. She cared about the details. She was absolutely part of the process. But she didn’t make planning her wedding flowers a second job. And there’s a difference.
You Don’t Have to Know Everything Before You Hire Your Florist
Couples sometimes come to us thinking they need everything figured out. The flowers. The exact shade. The centrepiece. The candles. The linens. The signage. The number of arrangements they need. You don’t.
Gabriela and Jordan gave us something far more useful: a sense of what they loved and how they wanted their wedding to feel.
From there, we could design. We talked through ideas together. We refined things. We made decisions as the wedding took shape.
But they also gave us room to do what they hired us to do. That matters.
Because when you trust your wedding florist enough to stop controlling every individual detail, we can start looking at the bigger picture.
We Weren’t Designing Centrepieces. We Were Designing the Room.
For their Whistle Bear wedding, every floral decision had to make sense within the space. The ceremony needed to feel connected to the reception. The reception flowers needed the right scale for the room.
The tables needed dimension, warmth and enough interest to draw you in without feeling overdone. And every detail needed to feel like it belonged to the same wedding. That’s the part of wedding floral design I love most. I don’t want you to walk into your reception and notice twelve separate things we designed. I want you to walk in and feel the whole room.
Being Involved Doesn’t Mean Managing It
This is where I think wedding planning has become unnecessarily complicated. There is so much inspiration available now that couples can easily spend hours making decisions they never needed to make in the first place.
Your florist doesn’t need a twenty-page presentation explaining exactly how every arrangement should look.
We need to understand you.
What do you love?
What feels wrong?
Where do you want to make an impact?
What matters enough to spend more on—and what doesn’t?
Gabriela and Jordan were involved in those conversations. Then they trusted us to carry the vision forward. That gave them space to plan alongside us instead of managing us.
It also gave us the creative freedom to make decisions based on the room, the flowers available that week, proportion, balance and all those little things you simply cannot see in a Pinterest photograph.
The Best Part? They Got to Experience It.
There is a moment on a wedding day when months of conversations become real. The flowers are placed. Candles are lit. Tables are finished. The room is finally ready. For Gabriela and Jordan, I wanted that moment to feel exciting. Not like they were checking our work against a list.
That is what trust gives you.
You still have a voice.
You still make the decisions that matter.
You just don’t have to carry every decision all the way to the wedding day. And I think that might be one of the most valuable things a good wedding florist can give you. Not just beautiful flowers. The ability to let go and know it’s handled.
Gabriela and Jordan trusted us with that. And their beautiful summer wedding at Whistle Bear Golf Club was all the better for it.
A special thank you to Torry + Tyson of Lovely Sparrow Photography, who captured Gabriela and Jordan’s day so beautifully. The quiet moments, the joy, the flowers, and all those little details we spend months talking about. It is always something special to see the day again through someone else’s lens.
