RUSTIC ELEGANCE | Ancaster Mill Wedding

Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (16 of 143)Our weekend wedding in the Governor’s Room at the Ancaster Mill was pure romance. Working along with our amazing couple, helping them to bring their vision to fruition was such pleasure. A classic and neutral color palette of creams, whites, ivory, and greys was selected to enhance the beauty of the Ancaster Mill setting. Choosing to keep their ceremony simple, and use the elegance of the Miller’s Chapel to enhance their marriage ceremony, blush toned florals with trailing vines and glowing candles adorned the fireplace hearth while vases of hydrangea, roses and sweet summer peony completed the aisle decor. The SGD event team created arrangements overflowing with hydrangea, roses and ranunculus with trailing ivies and Italian ruscus to adorn their dining tables in the Mill’s Governor’s Room. A simple but sweet draped garland lined back drop completed the head table scape, with an abundance of romantic candle light adding a romantic and beautiful ambiance to the room. Mini wood logs held place cards, along with wood slices added a simple but rustic touch, while guests received a truly iconic Canadian  treat of mini bottles of Canadian Maple Syrup. Grey linen table runners from Simply Beautiful Decor completed the table scapes.   In keeping with their wish to keep the atmosphere relaxed and family orientated, family members baked the delicious vanilla cupcakes with hand dipped oreo pops as after dinner treats. As always, Kurtz Orpia captured our gorgeous florals and decor simply perfectly!Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (139 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (127 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (129 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (131 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (135 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (142 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (97 of 143) Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (100 of 143) Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (102 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (13 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (29 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (35 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (20 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (24 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (9 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (32 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (48 of 143) Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (88 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (59 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (30 of 143)Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (114 of 143) Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (109 of 143) Sue Gallo_governors_room_ancaster_mill (52 of 143)

STYLE ME PRETTY FEATURE |Ethereal Wedding Inspiration at Willowbanks

We are utterly enchanted with each beautiful image captured by photographer Katie Nicolle. So delicate and lovely is her ethereal inspiration shoot around the preparation that every bride goes through on the morning of her wedding.
Set in the ever so stately historic mansion of Willowbanks on Niagara on the Lake, this romantic vignette is timeless.
Katie drew inspiration from and the inspiration is brought to life by the neutral color palette of the mansion, allowing for the swaths of muted tones in the bouquet created by Sue Gallo Designs to take center stage.
Madison is resplendent in a gorgeous gown by Sash & Bustle. Her tousled waves by Tahnee Marie and soft make up by Honor Beauty are only matched in sparkle by the gorgeous heirloom jewellery from Corsivo Calligraphy. The Observatory at Spencer’s on the Waterfront | One room two looks Editorial Feature

The Observatory at Spencer’s on the Waterfront is such a beautiful and breathtaking dreamy venue. Located on the Burlington waterfront this venue is a perfect blank slate for creating incredible atmospheres. So when Leanne from Pearle Weddings & Events asked us to help create a look for an up coming photoshoot to showcase their newly renovated space, we couldn’t have been more thrilled. We were so excited about the possibility of showing the space at its best, we actually came up with two distinctly different atmospheres. With beautiful table linen from Latkat Linen and a gorgeous 3 tiered cake from the Dessert Room, both looks are elegant, classic and so sophisticated. A really big thanks is owed to photographer Kurtz Orpia for lending us his lens and capturing this beautiful space for us.  Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-20 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-22 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-25 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-29Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-31Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-111 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-62 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-68 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-70Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-116 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-143 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-144 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-146 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-207 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-202 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-199Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-196 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-189 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-184 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-178 Spencer Smith Sue Gallo-182

willowbank 0313The inspiration for this moody shoot comes from the beautiful historic Greek Revival mansion of Willowbanks. Situated on a picturesque lawn hillside overlooking the village of Queenston, Ontario. The mansion is an elegant example of the rural estates of 19th century wealthy settlers in Upper Canada, and is named after the grand willow trees that once graced it elegant grounds.willowbank 0082

As it was common practice, many marriages during this time were well planned for a most perfect match. Young women were groomed by their Mothers to become a dutiful wife and mother. Many of these matches also came with a generous dowry and encouraged social stability for these young women. The Marriage of two individuals was often more valued for the financial and social prosperity it could afford.willowbank 0209

In keeping with spirit of this period, our bride and groom’s marriage has been carefully arranged by their parents, distant cousins with an ocean between the families. After many months of a long distance courtship, our bride & groom have exchanged letters that quickly became notes of devotion and love. Our bride has spent many weeks traveling to wed the Willowbanks heir and begin a new life in new her new country home. Our groom knows that this suitable match is favorable and that her generous dowry will allow him to continue the restoration of his historic family estate and that he can provide a comfortable and loving life for his new wife.willowbank 0070 willowbank 0089 willowbank 0065

Seeing her for the first time on their wedding day, he admires her from afar, just as he has through their letters. A sweet love has flourished during their courtship and he believes that not only has he found a most beautiful wife in his new bride, but a strong, devote and loving partner to run Willowbanks.willowbank 0233willowbank 0251willowbank 0262willowbank 0157 willowbank 0104 willowbank 0110 willowbank 0118 willowbank 0120willowbank 0142willowbank 0130 Read More

SPENCERS AT THE WATERFRONT | A Lakeside Event Space Debute

There are Saturdays that are simply perfect, and this past Saturday was one of those days, because at long last, Spencer’s at the Waterfront debuted their newly remodelled Observatory event space.  Sue Gallo Designs couldn’t be more thrilled to have been apart of this exciting opening and to share this incredibly gorgeous lakeside event space with you.

Together with Pearle Weddings & Events, Spencer’s at the Waterfront, and photographer Kurtz Orpia, a dream team of the best wedding pros at Burlington’s most beautiful & unique lakeside venue to show you every last wonderful new detail of the Observatory. With panoramic views of Lake Ontario and Spencer Smith Park , the Observatory was set for 130 dining guests {max. capacity}.  We set out to showcase the room with simple yet show stopping florals in romantic and soft hues of blushes, palest of peaches and lavenders. Bathed in the soft spring morning sunlight, the clean crisp look of the venue’s white marble and gold accented floors, steel ribbed and gold framed walls, tables set with the venue’s standard linen and silver chivari chairs, floor to ceiling windows, this modern yet elegant space was showcased perfectly. Each and every couple that entered the space were taken aback with how perfect lovely and dreamy the Observatory was.

I am brimming with excitement to share our utterly beautiful wedding inspiration that Kurtz Orpia documented in this amazing event space.
