I will always love an autumn wedding. Maybe it's the richness of the colours, the changing landscape or the way everything feels a little more romantic when the air turns cool. And honestly, a little rain only adds to the magic.
Daiana and Rob's wedding at Harding Waterfront Estate was a beautiful reminder of everything we love about designing for this season at Sue Gallo Designs. Romantic, sophisticated and filled with thoughtful details, their celebration embraced autumn in the most elegant way.
An Autumn Colour Palette, Beautifully Reimagined
When we think of fall weddings, it's easy to picture the traditional burnt oranges, rust tones and golden yellows.
But autumn has so much more to offer. For Daiana and Rob, Sue Gallo Designs embraced a rich burgundy and muted mauve, and apricot palette, creating a look that felt warm, romantic and beautifully connected to the natural surroundings of Harding Waterfront Estate.
The burgundy brought depth and drama, while the mauve softened the overall design, introducing an organic quality that complemented the landscape. Rather than designing around a traditional autumn theme, we wanted to capture the feeling of the season. The warmth. The intimacy. The richness of nature as it begins to change.
It's something I often encourage couples to consider when choosing their wedding colours. A palette should do more than look beautiful. It should create an atmosphere, complement the venue and feel entirely personal.
A Little Rain, A Lot of Romance
Of course, planning an autumn wedding in Ontario means accepting that Mother Nature might have a few ideas of her own.
And for Daiana and Rob, that included rain. But rainy wedding days have a beauty all their own. There's a softness to the light, a moodiness to the landscape and an intimacy that feels especially romantic.
Against the historic architecture and natural beauty of Harding Waterfront Estate, the deeper floral tones felt even richer, while the surrounding greenery created a beautiful contrast. It was a lovely reminder that a wedding doesn't need perfect sunshine to be unforgettable.

One of my favourite things about designing at Harding Waterfront Estate is the relationship between the architecture and the landscape.
There's already so much beauty here. Our job isn't to compete with it, but to complement it. For Daiana and Rob, Sue Gallo Designs created lush, romantic wedding florals with rich colour, beautiful texture and natural movement.
Every decision was considered with the setting in mind.
How would the colours work against the landscape, the marquis? How would the floral arrangements relate to the scale of the space? How could we create something romantic and abundant while maintaining that effortless elegance? These are the details that make a wedding feel thoughtfully curated rather than simply decorated. And when everything works together, the result feels natural, cohesive and timeless.
The Beauty of Trusting the Creative Process
One of the most meaningful parts of Daiana and Rob's wedding was the trust they placed in Sue Gallo Designs. And that's something I never take for granted.

I often say that beautiful wedding flowers are only part of the story. What I love most is seeing how those flowers transform the feeling of a space. How a rich palette creates warmth. How layers of texture add depth. How thoughtful details make a celebration feel welcoming and personal.
For Daiana and Rob, we weren't simply designing with burgundy, mauve and apricot. We were creating an atmosphere that felt romantic, sophisticated, connected to the season and the property’s lush autumn gardens. Looking back, it's that beautiful balance I love most. The autumn rain, the richness of the florals, the elegance of the estate and the trust that allowed everything to come together so naturally.
